Question:

Do you agree or disagree with the followingstatement? It is important to remember and learnfrom the past. Use details and examples to explainyour opinion.

Tips:

1. History helps us understand people and societies

2. History helps us understand change and how thesociety we live in came to be

3. History is fun! History books are full of interestingstories

I think it is important for everyone to rememberwhat we and our country has been through. First, learning from the past is a way of inheriting thehistory. Every book of history is made by events thatchanged the development of our nation, like the birthof PRC, so it’s worth our attention. Second, we can learn from the past as well, those historyevents sometimes are very similar with what we encounter in our modern life, being familiarwith our history means that you acknowledge the way of solving tough problems beforeanyone else knows the solution. Based on these reasons, I believe it is important for us tolearn from the past.

I totally agree with this statement that it’s important to remember and learn from the past. We all make mistakes and we all have to remember mistakes. Because mistakes tell us whatisn’t right. For example, when I was in the first grade primary school, I took a toy car fromanother student without informing him. I was too young to know that taking things from otherswithout mentioning isn’t right. Then my teacher helped the other student find this toy car andlabeled me as a thieve. I didn’t realize how serious this matter was until my father told me thatthis was humiliating. I swore to myself that I would never take anything from others withoutinforming the owners. I think this is a valuable lesson and I’ll remember it forever.

Some people like participating in performance like theatrical or musical show. Others prefer being audience watching those plays. Which one do you prefer?

两方面都比较好说,愿意参与可以说自己有interest and energy并且enjoy performing on the stage。愿意观看可以说not very good(或者dont have the talent) at music or acting并且busy with academic work and don`t have enough time to practice for the performance。

I prefer to be in the audience because I think in order to perform in those theatrical and musical shows, you need to have years of training, your acting must be really good because it’s all live and you can't go back and do it again. That’s why theatrical and musical actors are the best in the industry. Plus, there’s probably a lot of dancing in these shows, and I’m like a zombie when I try to dance, I just can’t do those moves, I’m just really the last person people wanna see in those shows, but I do enjoy watching some really good theatrical and musical performances.

I’d prefer participating in the performance to watching it. The first reason is coz, I love theatre. I think the best way to experience a performance is by being a part of it. The singing, dancing and acting would be a much more fulfilling experience than sitting and watching it. Often actors develop a deeper understanding of things just by playing a role. Secondly, performing in theshow is a better way tosocialize. During rehearsals and after performances, the cast always ends up becoming close, forming bonds based on their common interest in drama. The castand crew would probably grab a bite to eat or a drink after rehearsal sand this is a great way to meet new people.

When I was a kid, my dream was to be an actor, not just about the money; instead, it was the opportunities to travel around the world. But now, I choose to be a part of the audience, because I realize that the God didn’t give me a face which wins me the applause of the audience. In other words, I understand what part of the role I should play in the society. Besides, it is not a bad experience to be an audience. I just sit there along with the rest and enjoy the show. Maybe holding a basket of popcorn and a soda, it is nothing more relaxing than seeing those stupid actors showing off their so-called “melting-girls’- heart” face. If an actor forgets his lines or gets stumbled by another one, I can clap my hands even harder.

如果在independent-task部分问题是:what is your favorite thing about your city?

即使第一句话是“I prefer x, for several reasons”这样简单的句子。

1.Pull One’s leg

2.In One’s birthday Suit

3.Eat One’s Words

4.An Apple Of Love

5.Handwriting On The Wall

6.Bring Down The House

7.Have A Fit

8.Make One’s Hair Stand On End

9.Be Taken In 受骗,上当(不是“被接纳”)

10.Think A Great Deal Of Oneself

11.Pull Up One’s Socks

12.Have The Heart To Do
